Life sometimes gets so hectic that you forget to take a step back and spend a day together without having to worry about anything or anyone else.
We’ve been so busy lately that it feels like I haven’t spent any quality time with baby K, so on my day off we packed a lunch box and headed down to our local park. It was one of the best days I’ve had in a while. The weather was lovely, the park looked beautiful and I got to spend the day with my favourite little person.
We spent the day walking around the park collecting leaves and conkers, eating ice cream, chasing squirrels and nearly getting attacked by geese for our lunch, which was a bit scary! I even managed a dash to Morrisons to pick up some bits for dinner.
Watching my boy walk through the fallen leaves fascinated by the simplest thing as a conker made me realise how easy it is to get sucked in to doing ‘everyday’ things in our life and even though we’re together we’re not actually spending quality time with each other.
That stops now! Our kids grow so fast that we never get these times back and I intend to make sure I make time to go to the park, spend time in the garden or simply sit and snuggle on the sofa, after all the dishes and ironing can wait my baby boy won’t.
