Since becoming a mummy and returning back to work, am sure like all mums, my beauty routine has taken a bit of a hit!
My mornings are a bit of a mad rush, which goes something like this – wake up slap on some make-up, get baby K ready and head out the door. I mean I’ve never been one to cake on my make-up but lets be realistic here I wouldn’t leave the house without looking a little bit human!
1. Nutrogena Visibly Clear Oil Free Moisturiser
I have combination skin, but my T-Zone is definitely on the oilier side, so after washing my face with my Dr Bronners Organic Soap, I follow up with this mattifying moisturiser which is very light weight and as the name suggest – mattifying!
2. L’Oreal Infallible Mattifying Primer
I use this right after my moisturiser. As a result of commuting to work by train and sitting under the a/c all day in the office plays havoc with my skin, so I need a little bit of extra help keeping shine at bay. This primer gives my skin a silky feel without drying it out and also ensures the application of my foundation is smooth and flawless.
3. L’Oreal Infallible 24H-Matte Foundation
I love this foundation, it goes on smooth and isn’t cakey for a mattifying foundation. If I have blemish or slightly uneven skin and need a little extra coverage I simply layer and it still doesn’t feel heavy or drying on your skin, but provides lasting coverage which for me is a must!
4. L’Oreal Brow Artist Plumper
I originally used Benefits Gimme Brow, which was great but at £18 a little on the pricey side, so after trying out a few different brands I gave this one a go and at £5.99 it’s a bargain. I’m not one to spend ages trying to get my eyebrows perfect with pencils and waxes, so this is great for me. A couple of swipes and viola you have fuller looking brows!
5. L’Oreal Color Riche Le Khol, Pure Espresso 102
I don’t have time to do the perfect winged eyeliner or apply eye shadow on a work day, but what I do like is to add a little depth to my eyes by applying a little brown liner to the outside of my bottom lash line and smudging to make my eyes look a little less boring! I chose a dark brown as it looks a little less harsh than using black during the day. This kohl liner is soft so easy to apply without dragging on my lash line and if you make any mistakes it’s easy to correct with a cotton bud.
6. L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara, Carbon Black
My ALL time favourite mascara is Hypnose by Lancome, I love it because it lengthens and provides volume to your lashes without looking clumpy! As my all time fav mascara ran out and having been recommended the Telescopic Mascara by L’Oreal by a number of people I decided to give it a go. It’s no Hypnose but then there is a price difference, so for the price of £12 it’s not terrible, after using it for a little while you get used to the plastic application brush and become accustomed to the way it applies. When applied I found it gave my lashes a little bit more of a spider leg look but still provided length. I also found it slightly more difficult to remove in the evening, I tend to use a face wash to remove all my make up but with this mascara I have to use a make up remover beforehand in order to get the majority of it off before using my face wash. Overall though for the price it’s a mascara that I will use as a back up to my usual Lancome one.
7. Seventeen Define & Conquer Contour Kit
I’m fairly new to the contouring revolution, you know the faux cheek bones and dewy glow. I thought I’d give it a go but didn’t want to spend a fortune on a product that I may or may not use. Sevrnteens Contour Kit is cheap, easy to apply and does exactly what it says on the box. As a contouring novice they give you a handy little guide showing you where and how to apply in order to get that Kim K glow, well maybe not Kim K but at least I didn’t look like I let baby K loose on my face!
8. Rimmel Natural Bronzer, Sun Glow
I ‘ve used this bronzer since I was in my teens, it’s nice to use when I don’t have a tan, natural or bottle! I find most bronzers to have too much glitter in them or too dark, this one is exactly what it says, natural. It gives a nice sun kissed colour without too much shimmer, shimmer and oily skin does not go hand in hand!
9. Carmex Lip Balm
The winter months play havoc with the condition of my lips. A combination of cold winter weather, sitting under the a/c at work and having the radiator on the highest setting at home means my lips get dry and sometimes dare I say it chapped. I found one of the best things to help re-moisturise and get my lips back into tip top shape is Carmex. It has a slightly greasy feel to it and makes your lips tingle a bit when applies but a little goes a long way and it lasts for ages on your lips and in the tub!
10. Real Techniques Brushes and Sponges
I’ve never been one to apply my make-up using my hands but I also won’t spend a fortune on brushes, I’m not a professional make up artist so what’s the point! I have recently purchased some brushes from the brand Real Techniques who have a large selection of brushes and sponges for all different types of make up application.
They’re great quality, look stylish and are not too pricey, they apply your make up with out soaking up too much product and wash really well, what more could you want!
A little note, I have not been approached by any of the brands mentioned nor received any compensation. I genuinely use and love the products listed.
