I’m a little bit of a nail varnish addict, I literally have every colour imaginable and with Summer well kind of here I thought I’d share with you some of my favourite bright bold colours to give your nails that extra pop.
So here they are my top ten favourite nail varnish colours for Summer 2016 …. when it decides to get here!
I’m not really a girly girl and don’t often wear pink nail varnishes but this beautiful pink has more if a vintage feel than a candy floss pink. It offers full coverage with one coat although I like to do two.
Unlike the Maybelline Dusty Rose this pink nail varnish by Barry M is a little bit more on the girly side. You definitely need two coats to give it a solid streak free colour, which isn’t a problem as it’s part of Barry M’s ‘Quick Dry’ range so you’re pretty much good to go in a couple of minutes.
Let’s Get Nude by Rimmel is a staple nail varnish of mine. It took me forever to find that perfect nude colour which wasn’t too yellow or to taup and which matched my skin colour. This is my go to nude when I want a natural clean look, especially if my nails are short. There’s no shimmer or glitter in the colour, but you do need two coats to get the full effect.
Another nude favourite of mine is Macaron Noisette by L’Oreal, unlike the Rimmel one this has a slight shimmer to it which I like as it adds a little bit more dimension to your nails when applied. I sometimes like to use it on top of the Rimmel nide one as it is quite sheer when applied alone.
I love a bit of white nail polish, I know it can look a bit like when you were in school and used to paint your nails with tippex, but I have to say I like the boldness of a clean white nail varnish, especially with a bit of a tan.
Blueberry by Barry M is my ‘I want to be funky’ colour. It’s a light blue which comes out quite bright but still has that pastel tone to it.
Pomegranate by Barry M is a bright red/pink colour which looks great in the summer, it has a hi-shine finish to it as it’s part of their Gelly collection so it doesn’t necessarily need a topcoat to give it a shine.
Glaston-Berry by Rimmel is my new favourite coral colour for summer, it’s bright, not too orange/red and has a nice high shine finish to it.
Cherry Bomb by Accessorize is a lovely bright red, the colour applies really well but to get a bold colour with decent coverage you need three coats.
Insta-Dri top coat is amazing especially for mums or anyone with a busy lifestyle that needs to paint and go. After applying your nail varnish you simply wait two minutes for the colour to semi-dry and apply your Sally Hansen top coat. I usually paint my nails at night after baby K is in bed and once I finish with this top coat my nails are dry within seconds and I’m ready to go, perfect!
