We made it, it has officially been one month since we’ve started this crazy thing called potty training!
In my last post ‘Our Potty Training Journey: Two Weeks’ I foresaw wished that baby K will be at the point of telling me he needs the potty. We’re getting there, finally!
So how has it been going? Well after my last update we went through a couple of days where he would pee in the potty and then get up and a couple of minutes later and pee on himself. I mean come on, it was like he was reserving some just to piss mummy off!
We then had a tent incident, where he managed to again pee on himself so I decided to strip him down and leave him like that because it was near his bath time, so he shoots off to play in the living room while Mr H and myself cleared the dining table. We see him playing in his teepee and we joked can you imagine if he poo’s in his tent – it really wasn’t funny.
We’ve had a few issues with nursery, I get the feeling they think he’s still too young. On one occasion he was sent home with a nappy on which I obviously wasn’t happy about, their reasoning was he had accidents on all four pants that I sent in after a lengthy discussion (in which they must of thought what a bitch!) they finally understood that under no circumstances do I want them putting a nappy on my child.
A month on and we’ve had one morning where baby K has actually grabbed his belly and said ‘oh dear’ que crazy run around the house looking for the potty while shouting hold it! A very proud mummy moment!
He now regularly tells me when he needs to use the potty when we’re at home. We’ve had two long days out, one to Westfield for a bit of retail therapy (mummy deserved it) and a soft play birthday party, and to be honest both trips were a success. We did have a poo issue at Westfield and had to carry out the walk of shame to the toilets but I can deal with that, afterall we were out of the house for nearly seven hours!
Overall I’d say the futures looking bright! There are a few points that we have to work on like pulling his trousers down himself and getting him to say he needs to go wee (everything is a poo at the moment!) but hey I can live with that, after all he is only 25 months.
Have you started potty training? I’d love to hear how it’s going.
