We’ve made it to the 32 week mark of my pregnancy and I can now say I have officially started the countdown to my last weeks of work and it can not come round quick enough.
I had planned at the beginning of my pregnancy to keep a better log of how my pregnancy was progressing but with morning sickness, a holiday in May and Mr H going off to the army I’ve hit 32 weeks (12 weeks after my last update, click here for my 20 week update) of being pregnant with hardly any photos and hardly any posts on how it’s all been going. Nevertheless here’s my 32 week update in all it’s glory!
Even though everyone’s really disappointed that the weather isn’t as hot as it was a couple of weeks ago, wouldn’t class myself as one of those people. I’m so glad the weather has cooled down a bit as I was really starting to struggle with the heat and the commute to work on the underground where there is NO air, literally none! So I for one am happy that the weather has cooled down a bit and so is my poor feet.
We’re now out of the fun stage and back into the uncomfortable and easily irritated stage due to a lack of sleep and the fact that everything I do is now done at a snails pace. I have invested in a pregnancy pillow this time round to have in between my legs and help support my belly at night and it has helped a bit.
Our little madame seems to be resting pretty low which isn’t doing my lower back any favours, it also makes me wonder if she’ll make an early appearance, not too early but early enough, maybe the 13th of September instead of the predicted 18th, wishful thinking maybe.
When I went in for my 28 week antenatal checkup the midwife measured my belly and advised that baby seems to be measuring bigger than she should, when I asked whether this was a concern or not she said they will keep an eye at my next appointment at 34 weeks and see how she is progressing. To be honest at the time I was like OK and headed off but thinking about it now I’m wondering if she should have booked me in to go in for another appointment before the usual 34 week check up. I’m hoping that by my next appointment she’ll be a little happier with baby girls growth and she would’ve leveled out a bit.
I’m still also a little worried about how baby K will react when his sister arrives. We’ve tried to keep him as involved as possible in things that we’re doing like painting her room, he made a mess but proudly says he helped paint it, choosing little PJ’s for her and the plan is to take him to choose a toy for her to give to her when she is born.
Apart from the usual pregnancy tiredness and uncomfortable feelings which are pretty normal at this stage of pregnancy, I’m officially ready to stop work although I do still have four weeks left till my last day.
I also feel at a little bit of a loss when it comes to planning the birth and how many times I’ve seen my midwife. I know that the second time round you get seen less but I haven’t actually seen the same midwife once, which makes me feel a little bit anxious. My next appointment is at 34 weeks so till then I’m going to focus on getting baby girl’s room organised and then see how my next visit goes and go from there.
I’m definitely excited about preparing baby girls nursery and getting baby K a big boy bed with all his new bed sheets etc. I’ve been scouring Pinterest for nursery ideas as she will be going into the smaller bedroom and I don’t want to over clutter the space. I want the room to resemble a little girl’s room without being too girly, so because of this I have opted to go for white walls with a touch of antique rose pink and gold to add a touch of colour to the room. I’ve also found some cute website with loads of different bits and bobs which you can’t find everywhere such as Scandiborn and The Modern Nursery
Pregnancy # 1 vs Pregnancy # 2
I definitely feel like I’m struggling a lot sooner with this pregnancy than baby K’s, I don’t know if it’s because I have a three year old to run after, the heat, because I’m bigger and she ‘s lower or all of those things combined, but it’s definitely harder!
During my first pregnancy I worked up until two weeks before my due date, I’m ready to stop work now this time round and am considering moving my maternity leave forward by another week, the plan at the moment is to use two weeks annual leave from the 28th of August and have my maternity leave begin on the 11th of September, this way I get to spend time with baby K before he starts at his new nursery on the 4th as well as prep for baby without having to fit it around work.
A plus to this pregnancy is the fact that we have baby K and seeing his reaction to my growing belly, feeling her kick and how he has been in general with my bump. He melted my heart the other day when I was reading his bedtime story and he got up placed his little hand on my belly and softly said “do you like the book sister” I mean really I could’ve squished the life out of him for being so cute!
