I don’t know about anyone else but as a mummy I have to prioritise my to do list and some things just end up getting left and left and yep left until I can’t avoid it anymore. In my case this is my ironing, I hate ironing, so when the lovely people at ihateironing.com got in touch offering me a taster of their services I couldn’t refuse.
What is ihateironing about I hear you ask. They’re a company that brings together the best dry cleaners in your area to provide you with quick, hassle free and good quality dry cleaning service, from anywhere that suites you. The idea is simple, you pop online to place your ‘order’, your expert dry cleaner will collect your items within the time slot you have selected, take it away clean your clothes and return them to the time and place selected by you neatly packaged and ready to be worn.
I really was quite excited to use this service due to my loathe of ironing, so I popped online and started clicking. The website is very user friendly with a clear menu at the top, contact number visible and right on the front page the form that needs to be filled out in order to select your dry cleaning service. The website design looks very high end which makes you automatically feel like you’ll be receiving top quality service.
As I work during the week I opted to have my items collected on a Saturday morning before we headed out for our swimming lesson, so I chose the time slot between 8:00am-9:00am, this was perfect for me as we usually head out of the house at 9:45am. However, collections are available from as early as 7am for those days when you have to be up and out first thing in the morning. Once you’ve decided on your pickup time you then proceed to your drop of time, which can be as early as the same day between 5:00pm-6:00pm or as late as 7:00pm-8:30pm. I found the fact that I could have my items collected and returned the same day extremely helpful especially if you have items that you need back ASAP, because of this I sent Mr H’s shirts to be pressed knowing that I would have them back that evening ready for the next morning, which was one less thing for me to worry about.
At 7:00am on Saturday morning I received a text message reminding me that my driver will arrive between 8:00am-9:00am and also giving me the option to rearrange or inform them if I need to change my times if I am running late.
At 8:28am I received a knock at the door by a gentleman working as part of the ihateironing team, he drove a nice clean car and wore a jacket with the ihateironing logo on it which tied in with the professional look of their website. As I gave him my garments he took note as to what I wanted to be done, he placed them in a company bag and off he went, leaving me free to go about my day without having to worry about my pile of ironing.
I chose to have my items returned between 6:00pm-7:00pm, which allowed me to finish my errands for the day, at 5:00pm I received another text message once again reminding me of my chosen delivery slot and giving me the option to rearrange or advise if I am running late.
This is an excellent option to have as sometimes things happen, traffic, extra toilet stop for a potty training toddler, and instead of getting into a panic you can simply let them know and arrange an alternative time or maybe a drop off to a neighbour.
My items were delivered back at 6:30pm well within the allocated time, by the same driver who made the collection. Everything was given to me on hangers, with a plastic bag over it with the ihateironing logo printed on it.
Amongst the items I had sent were some men’s work shirts, knitwear, men’s tailored shorts and some men’s and women’s tailored trousers. All the items came back crisply pressed and neatly hung, the men’s shirts had no creases on it and the arms had been nicely pinned to the front to ensure it did not get creased on delivery. The trousers had all been nicely pressed and hung with a nice pleat running down the middle of the trousers that required it. These were all hung and grouped together where necessary in order to avoid the overuse of plastic covers.
Would I use ihateironing.com again, yes. My reasons well I hate ironing for starters, secondly the fact that I can get my dry cleaning sorted from the comfort of my own home and have it work around my time rather than the other way around makes life so much easier and who wouldn’t want that!
How do you feel about ironing? Are you a do it as you go person or like me avoid till you have no choice? Would you try a dry cleaning delivery service?
