Last summer after researching fun things to do with baby K on my day off I came across a pick your own farm called Parkside Farm in Enfield.
So this year I re-added visiting a pick your own farm to our Summer To Do List and decided on my next day off that’ll be the first thing we tick off our list. Well the day we wanted to go it decided to bucket down with rain so we took a rain check (see what I did there!) the following Wednesday was a bit dull but no rain so we headed out armed with our wellies.
As we’d never been to a pick your own farm before I didn’t know what to expect, it was quite big and I never realised all the different fruit and vegetables that’s available, this time round we went for strawberries and a really big courgette, the next time we go I’ll definitely be grabbing some green beans and beetroots.
Baby K loved running around the field and finding the ripest strawberries to pick aswell as testing one or two out, he also gave some raspberries and blueberries a try but definitely decided against them, I think he didn’t like the texture of the raspberries and the blueberries were a bit tart!
The main thought behind the whole pick your own was that after picking his own strawberries baby K would be more willing to eat them, it kind of worked as when we got home and after his lunch he specifically asked to have some of his picked strawberries.
I was impressed with the price it states on the website that you have to spend a minimum of £4.00 per person, we ended up paying £8.00 for a large basket of strawberries, one courgette and an ice cream, not bad for a day out in the fresh air.
