That’s it all the stress and rushing around for Christmas is over! The bottom of my tree looks bare, we’re all stuffed to the point of no return – Slimming World here I come – and another year has come to an end, hello 2017.
Now is the time where I sit back and join the lovely Stevie from A Cornish Mum to reflect on all the great things that have happened in the month gone.
☆ Two weeks of no work☆
I always take Christmas off and this year has been no exception, the great thing is that because of all the extra bank holidays I get an extra long break from work to spend at home with my family. I’ve loved spending quality time with baby K and not having to rush around in the mornings to get him to where he needs to be so I can get to work on time!
☆ Baking Gingerbread Men☆
So I decided to give baking another go with baby K as the last time wasn’t so successful, he didn’t understand that you had to add ingredients and bake before you have something edible, so you can imagine trying to explain to a two year old that the cake needs to be baked before he can eat it! This time round I left him out of the prep and got him involved in the fun stuff like rolling out the dough and cutting out the different shapes, it was so nice to see him using the rolling pin and getting involved, my kitchen did take a bit of a hit though!
If you haven’t already gathered I love Christmas and everything that goes with it. This year was particularly special as baby K seemed to understand a little bit more than last year, which meant I was able to start some Christmas traditions and do things like leave out some treats for Santa and Rudolph. I hope this magic lasts for as long as possible because it truly is the most amazing thing to see him believe in the magic of it all.
☆ Saying Goodbye to 2016☆
2016 hasn’t been the best year, unfortunately we’ve lost my mums brother to cancer and my granddad passed away unexpectedly, both within less than 40 days of each other, which as you can imagine isn’t the easiest thing to deal with. So I’m pretty glad 2016 is over and am hoping and praying that 2017 brings with it lots of great memories and most of all everyone makes it through healthy and happy.
I hope everyone else has had an amazing December and enjoyed good food, lots of family time and is ready for the year ahead!
