I can’t believe I’m already writing this post, I very nearly forgot as I didn’t realise the month is practically over! I love October and the arrival of Autumn, the leaves going bare, the arrival of darker mornings and cold nights which means you can get cosy on the sofa with a blanket and hot cup of tea!
October has been a busy month for us but I don’t seem to know why! I’ve looked in my diary to see if there’s anything in particular that we’ve been up to and to be honest there isn’t, apart from of course Mr H’s 30th birthday, so I’m not quite sure where the time has gone. Any who the month is over and before we step into November, which is going to be a busy month for sure, it’s time to look back to the month just gone and note all the fun and great things we got up to!
☆ My Christmas cake is baked and ready for feeding
I’ve always marked the beginning of October with the baking of my Christmas cake, the house smells amazing and because I’m a bit of a Christmas nut so for me it’s a nice little festive treat to get ready for the fun months ahead. This year we have decided to hold a Christmas Macmillan Coffee Morning at work in December and I’ve managed to rope most people into bringing something homemade to sell, I’ve decided to make an extra Christmas cake to take in and a red velvet cake, which will be made nearer the time. Both my Christmas cakes are made and ready for feeding with rum and even though I don’t like fruit cakes, I love the smell of them each time I unwrap them.☆ Mr H’s
☆ Mr H’s 30th Birthday Celebrations
Mr H has joined the 30s club! On his actual birthday he was on a plane returning home from a business trip, but that weekend we went out to Chotto Matte in Soho to celebrate his milestone birthday with a group of our closest friends and family. It was a great night full of laughter, good food and a lay in the next morning! Hopefully a great start to Mr H’s 30s.
☆ My Morphy Richards Slow Cooker
So I finally decided to purchase a slow cooker after hearing about them from my supervisor for months and how easy they are and I have to say so far I’m pretty impressed. I managed to pick up a 6.5 litre Morphy Richards Sear and Stew slow cooker for £35 off of ebay when they normally cost around £50. I haven’t made anything particularly difficult init as yet, but the things I have made have been delicious and how amazing is it to come home to hot food ready and waiting to be eaten.
☆ Baby K’s first cinema trip
I decided to take baby K to his first cinema trip this month, I was lucky as I found tickets for £1.80 each for Children in Need so I thought sod it I’m going to take him and if he doesn’t like it I haven’t paid through the nose on tickets so we can just leave. Firstly let me begin with I’ve never been to the cinema at 10:10am so I wasn’t expecting it to be so busy, welcome to childrens cinema, second my husband thought baby K wouldn’t sit and he was way to young to go, but me being me I totally disagreed so decided to take him anyway. So I booked The Secret Life of Pets and off we went and he loved it! It was so cute to see him sitting in the massive chair with his ice-cream, yes I gave him ice-cream in the morning because he doesn’t eat chocolate or popcorn, totally mesmerized by the animals on the big screen. Definitely a day out I won’t be forgetting.
We ended the month with a fun trip to Willows Farm for their Halloween Pumpkin Festival event. We had a great day walking around feeding the animals, riding on the fun fair rides, watching the shows and watching baby K pick out his very own teeny tiny pumpkin! We’re all booked up to go back to their Santa Spectacular event to visit the man in red, I can’t wait!
☆ Planning, Planning, Planning
As we head into November I can pretty much say that practically every weekend in our diary is now fully booked with days out, birthdays and get togethers. The run up to Christmas is always a busy one as we get ready for Halloween, fireworks night and try to fit in seeing friends before everybody gets crazy busy with their festive celebrations. So the plan was to well plan so we can get everything done and everyone seen before a nice chilled out end to the year!
So bring on the crazy months ahead!
