The streets of London are now aglow with twinkling Christmas lights signifying the start of my favourite time of year, Christmas yay!
Last year we didn’t get a chance to visit a Christmas Market but I definitely want to take a trip to one of the many festive huts which will be popping up around London, so I thought to make things a little easier for anyone else who wants to take a trip to one of the many markets I’ll put together a list of some of London’s top Christmas Markets.
So here it is the top ten Christmas Markets in London, I hope you find one you like…
☆ Winter Wonderland, Hyde Park Kensington, 18th Novembver-2nd January ☆
Going strong for ten years and probably one of the more well known Christmas events, Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park caters for everyone with their fun rides, Christmas shows, Santa Land, abundance of food stalls and their Christmas markets.
☆ Winter Festival, Southbank Centre, 11th November – 8th January ☆
Visit Southbank to see the edge of the Thames transformed into a wintry Nordic market adorned with Scandinavian decorations, twinkling lights, a giant Norwegian tree and seasonal events for the whole family to enjoy.
☆ Christmas in Leicester Square, Leicester Square, 11th November – 8th January ☆
2016 sees a new addition to the Christmas market scene with Christmas in Leicester Square, promising to transform the centre of bustling London into a festive wonderland where you can visit the man in red and pick up some hand-crafted gifts and grab some delicious food.
☆ London Bridge Christmas Market, London Bridge, 30th November – 3rd January ☆
In its third year London Bridge’s Christmas market is set out across some of London’s biggest sightseeing landmarks such as Tower Bridge, London Bridge, The Tower of London, HMS Belfast, The Scoop, City Hall and Hays Galleria. So why not kill two birds with one stone and visit London Bridge’s Christmas Market to pick up some cute gifts, grab some good food, mulled wine and take in the sights that make London well London.
☆ Camden Christmas Market, Camden, 17th November – 22nd December ☆
You’re guaranteed to find something different at Camden Market and this year Camden has decided to do something different by hosting a themed Christmas shopping experience every Thursday from the 17th of November. As well as an abundance of stalls selling quirky gifts, Camden has pulled out all the stops with live music, festive food and of course mulled wine to get you in the festive mood.
☆ Chelsea Chrismas Shopping Weekend, Duke of York Square, 3rd-4th December ☆
Why not pop down to Chelsea to do a bit of Christmas shopping at one of the many sparkling boutiques against a backdrop of Christmas carols, twinkling lights and festive songs. Once you’re done shopping for that perfect gift for your loved ones you can jump on a horse and carriage ride to top of your festive day out.
☆ Ideal Home Show at Christmas, London Olympia, 23rd-27th November 2016 ☆
OK so it’s not a Christmas market but the Ideal Home Show at Christmas is the place to go for everything festive under one roof. A great place to pick up tips for your Christmas dinner, gain inspiration on how to decorate your home, beauty and fashion ideas or to just wander around to get into the Christmas spirit the Ideal Home Show is where it’s at.
☆ Surreal Santa’s Sleigh and Enchanted Christmas Market, Sutton House Hackney, 26th November – 18th December ☆
Running each weekend from the 26th of November each room in this beautiful Tudor manor house will be transformed into a winter wonderland using pantomimes as its inspiration. Taking a step away from the traditional German style Christmas markets, Sutton House is looking to cater to families of all ages with its unique themes from Jack & the Beanstalk, Puss in Boots, Snow White, Cinderella and many more great characters, each room will have a live action character allowing you to get completely immersed into the fairytale. As well as this you can also visit Santa, pick up a unique gift from one of the many boutique stalls, take in a Christmas carol or watch a film preview. Plenty to do for everyone.
☆ Greenwich Christmas Market, Greenwich, 23rd November – 24th December ☆
Set within a World Heritage site Greenwich market is filled with independent retailers and cute boutique shops, once you’re done finding that perfect gift loved ones why not stop off at one of the many food stalls to pick up a festive feast or pop into one of the surrounding gastro pub for a delicious meal.
☆ Islington Christmas Market, The Angel Central Shopping Centre, 21st November – 24th December ☆
Traditional wooden chalets will be popping up around Angel Central to announce the arrival of their Christmas market on the 21st of November, housing an array of handpicked exhibitors selling unique and handcrafted gifts which you may not be able to find on the high street. To wrap up your shopping trip why not grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants in the area.
